Here are some suggestions of how you can get your products out into the big world:
Business cards – You can easily make these yourself and change as you add or remove products. Include your name, farm name, phone numbers, address, email, logo, your products (i.e. grass fed beef, cattle).
Website - It is very important with today’s technology. People research and shop on line and then make the phone call. It gives you credibility and professionalism. Word Press is easy to use and easy for search engines to find you. It also has blogging abilities.
Blogging – It is an important way to provide information to the public and describe the handling of your animals and your farm life so they know what you are doing and want to buy just from you. You can do your educating, networking through chat groups. Put a time limit doing this so it does not consume your day.
Word of mouth – This has the most impact.
Samples to interested future customers or those who sign up for your beef sales.
Brochures about your farm are great for visitor centers or to have available at meetings. Be sure to include what you sell, how the animals are raised, and reasons to buy your products. Don’t forget to include your location, and contact information (and website address!).
Pamphlets or flyers could include recipes, cow raising info, calving info, or whatever you choose.
Donate, participate or sell your beef, poultry, or pork to community events, fundraising BBQ, a local extension workshops, or even chili cook-offs.
Provide a quality product – If it is not quality yet, don’t put it on the market until it is ready. Bad word of mouth is hard to turn around. Do your best the first time.
Value added products – Sausage, hot dogs, jerky. BBQ sauce, recipe book, skulls, hides, and handmade items your family members produce. These create extra sales.
