Individuals ask me what would be a great gift of support for their dear friend diagnosed with cancer?
- A soft, soft, very soft hat for their thinning hair and cold head. They may even wear it to bed!
- Funny cards (not medical related) sent every few weeks to let them know you are thinking of them. Laughter is the best medicine.
- Notes or emails about what you have been doing. It connects them with the outside world with out talking about illness. You are still sending compassion, love and support.
- A handmade rice pack that you heat in the microwave – warmth or heating pads feel very cozy and comforting.
- If they have hand and foot syndrome, a looftah filled with soap is soothing to the feet as it removes the dead calloused skin.
- Your favorite music or a funny DVD. It is too difficult sometimes to read a lot because your eyes change and it is hard to focus. Other times it is difficult to concentrate or painful to turn the pages.
- A lap quilt or blanket to keep them cozy and loved in their chair while they are being infused with chemotherapy fluids.
- If they are open to Yoga, request my free Yoga For Cancer DVD mailed to you or directly to them. It has been produced by privately donated funds.
- If you live close by, leave a homemade ‘goodie’ on their porch which they can find when they return home from their therapy. It is a gift of love from you for them that the entire family will look forward to.
- Send loving thoughts each day - they will feel them….
